This lovely timber frame home was designed as a family retreat for a retired couple from Nashville. It overlooked a meandering river where visiting children and grandchildren were able to swim and canoe. This project was especially successful because everyone involved helped incorporate this interesting couple’s personality into the created Design.
Dark-stained timbered ceilings, with occasional timber posts and headers in the appropriate areas of the home, were all the young owner desired in his elegant custom-built timber frame home. The entire project was designed by Homestead Timber Frames with specific attention to detail. Everyone was pleased with the outcome — especially the owner.
She had always dreamed of a timber frame home built on their lot in a lovely Tennessee mountaintop community. Her husband was only interested in the large basement where his woodworking shop, gym and home theater were going to be. But once the raising of the timber frame began, he became very excited about how the timbers were actually joined together and the engineering aspect of the structure. He still enjoys his basement getaway, but is also very pleased to join his wife and admire the inviting Great Room while they sit before the fire.
This extraordinary home came from the heart and soul of its owners and their land. The land provided the rich white oak and nice old hickory trees that would provide the timbers for the hand-built timber frame and hardwood flooring. A company that could provide quality craftsmanship was high on their list. They craved a home that fit the “farm” – was spacious enough for the large amount of entertaining they were known for – yet cozy enough to be “home” when they desired the peace and quiet it offered.
