In May of 2019, Matthew graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts with a concentration in Fine Woodworking from Tennessee Technological University. In high school, he pursued his passion of hands-on things by wood turning and working in a mechanic shop. That’s what drove Matthew to the engineering and woodworking programs at TTU. After working in a cabinet shop for a summer, he found his true passion was woodworking.
Matthew spent his college career making furniture with a focus of the joinery telling a story, which is a main drive for what brought him to Homestead Timber Frames. “At Homestead, we cut everything by hand and then sign it. We take pride in what we do, and signing it makes everything we do personal.” When he’s not at work, you can find Matthew in a cave system or on a trail enjoying the incredible designs in nature.
