Patrick White | Joiner
Originally from Oklahoma, Patrick has been a “native” Tennessean for quite a few years now. Wood has always been his love, so graduating in 2014 from Tennessee Tech University’s Appalachian Center Crafts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Wood was a dream come true. His inspirational artists in wood are Hans Wegner and Sam Maloof.
During college and after graduation, he spent six years working for Cookeville’s local wood artist Brad Sells as an assistant sculptor and designer. Patrick was ready for a change and timber framing gave him a wide variety of different skills to learn on his journey into working with heavy timbers. “Woodworking to me is a way of life—all encompassing and very satisfying. There are so many different methods of working wood and there’s always something new.”
While camping and hiking are also where you’ll find Patrick on those nice weekends, he can sometimes be found refurbishing electric guitars or building an electric amplifier. Playing guitar is also a passion. There’s something about having deep interests in wood, music and electronics that can give life meaning—Patrick feels very fortunate.
